Happiness is...
That moment when your alarm goes off and tells you it's time. It's time to get your butt out of bed and head to the airport. It's not like you've been sleeping anyway. No, you have been anxiously awaiting this morning and your trip to JAMAICA.
You can do this. You have run through each and every possible scenario in your head. Twice. You have double-checked your luggage and run all of the last errands. And now, you're finally going to an exotic island, a vacation, a getaway with your man.
You deserve this. After the fall you've had, it's all you're looking forward to. It'll be the time of your life. And your alarm. Just. Went. Off. Get up, get dressed, and head out the door!
After all, "I'm leaving... on a jet plane... don't know when I'll be back again..." :) Seeya!

Parody
Happiness is...
Parodies. Find something ridiculous? There's an easy response. Make fun of it in just as ridiculous a fashion. Mock it, comment on it, or trivialize its message.
Oh and, by the way, HAPPINESS IS BEING 24 HOURS AWAY FROM A WEEK IN A TROPICAL ISLAND WITH MY MAN. The end. Have a nice day.

Perfect score
Happiness is...
Receiving not one, but two 100%s in a day.
That's right, graduate school---take that.

Ellen
Happiness is...
Ellen Degeneres. I love everything about her. She's kind, fun, hilarious, and downright amazing. I often say I would cross over for her. Sometimes I think it may be true. She deserves it. Who else starts off a show by dancing and then sits down to scare guests, make jokes, and touch the heart?
It's all of my favorite emotions rolled into one neat hour. No wonder she's got Oprah's old spot.
That's all. Watch on.

Legwarmers
Happiness is...
Legwarmers. So it's a frigid morning? Slip on the 1980s and solve your problem. Sweatpants may not cut it, but these babies will keep your calves toasty all day... now if only I could figure out what to about my thighs and my knees. I suppose calling them legwarmers is a little false, but my ankles aren't complaining!

Prepare to Snooze
Happiness is...
That moment when you wake up and realize that you've already taken care of making a lunch, packing your bag, and planning your day. Turn off that alarm and get some more sleep!

Quiet mornings
Happiness is...
This fresh Sunday morning. Sitting around in my peaceful apartment, enjoying my time, and for once in my week not being disrupted by the heffalumps upstairs.
Let me back up for a second. They're not actually the size of heffalumps, so that's not entirely fair. Or maybe that's why it bothers me even more, because I know the stomping and running and giggling that permeates my bedroom can be helped. Do you need to take 14 trips to the bathroom at 10pm? Certainly not. Do you need to stomp up your stairs screaming to the people you left in the parking lot at 1am? Dear God no. But you do it all anyway.
So yes, Ms. Creak-creak-bang-slam, I look forward to my Sunday mornings. Because they're all I've got to hold on to my sanity. They're my only escape from the echo of your bed frame or the pounding of your shower. Ahhh, sweet release.

The Potter's Hands.
Happiness is...
The potter's hands. Today church was super amazing. They brought a guest preacher/potter in and he actually throws a huge vase during his talk so he can walk us through this sweet metaphor. God always said we are the clay but now I feel like I see that whole concept from a brand new set of eyes. You see, we start out as a hunk of ugly piece of earth and it's not until we actually are centered in the lord that we can begin to become something beautiful... I'm not sure how much you know about pottery, but if the pot starts off wobbly it just gets worse and worse until it flies off the wheel... Then he brought up how the potter has this great intent for us and starts to work on us from the inside. No one else can really see this work from sitting in the audience, but it is the most important step to becoming a vase because it hollows the bottom and sets the foundation to pull up the cylinder. When you watch a potter do this it really is spectacular, seeing a small mound become a tall, cylindrical mass. However, this cannot happen unless it's under pressure from the hands of the potter. Even once it's there, there are bigger plans too (though it looks great, it isn't the best piece of work yet). The potter swells the vase to create a piece of art. And only then is it fired. Imagine the process of the kiln, putting pieces in and bricking up the entrance, they endure high high temperatures and it seems dark and lonely but the potter is not far away, just outside the door adjusting the levels, watching the pots strengthen to the perfect amount. Do you follow that whole process? Can you picture the vase? Now imagine that as us, in our process of life. The end product is a solid vase, beautiful and ready to withstand the weathers. That is what I experienced this morning. Total mind blow. That was true happiness, sitting right there.

Ellen
Happiness is...
Ellen Degeneres.
Comedian, Actress, and most importantly TV Host. Today was a rare day when I was still poking around at home around 9am, so I was able to catch the Ellen show. With Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake, and Lady Gaga, it was a great choice for my morning. After that hour, nothing could get me down! She's won thirteen emmys for a reason.
I think there are few shows on television today with great characters and a good message. Ellen is awesome because she can make my gut hurt from laughter, or she can touch my heart. Plus, she's got great celebrity friends! I'll never be that cool, so for now I'll just settle for being a loyal fan.
And, if you didn't hear, she's moving to afternoon this fall to take Oprah's place. That's right, my Ellen will be the new Oprah! <3

Marathons
Happiness is...
Marathons. No, not running... who likes running enough to do it for 26.2 miles? Psh. :)
Although, I really do like an afternoon marathon of a quality TV show. Today I took a cat nap, and woke up to several hours of sitcom. It was exactly what a holiday is supposed to be. It was relaxing, fulfilling, amazing, and many other words. I could get used to it.
So to recap, I am not a big fan of distance running. However, I like going the distance with great TV. You got it?

Clearance
Happiness is...
Buying things on clearance.
Every now and then you may want a new skirt, or t-shirt. Lucky for you, nearly every store has a clearance rack with goodies waiting anxiously to be discovered. Better yet, when you get these gems you end up feeling even happier about your awesome shopping skills entirely! Why even buy things at full price when you can conquer the sales? Mmmm clearance.
