Free at Work

Happiness is...

That moment when you get to work and realize you have spare time to get things done. Maybe, just maybe, that means productivity for the day. It's rare in my job, but it's welcome!

Free tickets!

Happiness is...

All things free. Tonight, it's Miranda Lambert concert tickets. It makes the event so much better to know that it was gifted to you, purely for your enjoyment! After a long week in class and class all day today (yes, a seven hour Saturday class is a part of my grad school experience) this is just what the doctor ordered! Girls night with country music and a few drinks perhaps? I'll take it.

Tomorrow I can get back to reality. But for tonight I'd just like to pretend that I don't have to be studious and responsible. Bring it on.

Raspberries

Happiness is...

Fresh raspberries. The greatest thing about going home for a weekend is that your parents may take pity on you and supplement your cupboards. Monday afternoon Mom gave me raspberries. That's even better than I had hoped! So all in all I was productive with schoolwork, finished a couple loads of laundry, stocked up on food, and came home with special treats. Happy Labor Day to me!

One downfall: seeds. But that's nothing compared to the juicy, fresh, sweet taste of those little berries. They're so refreshing and so delicious. Lunch is that much more amazing in the middle of my long day.

Underwear

Happiness is...

Underwear. Tonight we went to the history center for a free outdoor concert and while we were there we checked out the exhibits... about the depression, minnesota, and underwear. It was interesting to see how far we've come in the last century, and my appreciation for it grew tenfold! I gave my underwear far too little credit. It comes in all shapes and sizes, many fabrics, and wonderful colors. That's my story, in brief... ;)

Speaking of outdoor concerts, did I mention my affinity for them? I sure will miss summer in the cities.

Frequent buyer cards

Happiness is...

Frequent buyer cards. And why not reward me after my seventh cup of coffee? I don't care if it's a marketing scheme, it works. And I'll enjoy the next six cups of joe. Congratulations, you have my undying loyalty!

Libraries

Happiness is...

Libraries.

Seriously, who sat down one day and decided that the whole world should just share books? It's a brilliant idea. Just down the street you can find resources, services, and sources, all for common use. Even if you don't find exactly what you're looking for, they can retrieve it for you from another building.

So few things these days are really communal, but I know if I want to get a good read I can just borrow it from the library. All for free. Tell me something that can even compare.

Free Cities for the Summer

Happiness is...

Finding free things in the summer....

Music in the parks.
Art events.
Walks at the lake.
Free museum nights.
Wandering around the cathedral.
Going roaming downtown.
Free movies or outdoor theater.
Beachbeachbeachbeach.
Art fairs and farmers markets.
SUN!

Tomorrow's memorial day. And it all begins <3
One of the many things I'll miss about living in the Twin Cities.

Yesterday we went for a walk around Lake Harriet, and explored the gardens, and had a mini picnic from a lemonade stand... :) Today we went to the sculpture garden and walker. I like weekends like this, they should happen more often. Weekends.like.this.are.happiness.
