Happiness is...
The big mugs. I love drinking cocoa, coffee, cider, what have you. The way it warms my throat as I gulp it down is irreplaceable. And after a long frigid walk home, the first thing my frozen fingers crave is a steaming drink to wrap themselves around. But it feels so much more rewarding when I'm holding a giant, neat mug in my hands. You can have your crisp, white, perfectly flat mug. I like mine whimsical. Whatever the shape, no matter the colors, things are just better if it's fun.
I don't truly believe that size matters... with a couple exceptions.

Me Day
Happiness is...
Doing things for you. I get it, it's important to be productive, stay healthy, and maintain the budget. But some days I don't care about being a well-adjusted adult. Take today, for example. After church, I went and bought myself some new clothes. Following my retail therapy, I cooked a party pizza... and I ate the whole thing. Sure, I still went for a run and stayed mostly on track, but after I got home I watched a bunch of television and ate a little bit of chocolate. I deserve a me day. I never stop and do what I want because I want it. Think about it. How much of your daily routine is set up so that you can be a good adult---work, home, exercise, eat a balanced meal, obey the laws of society, take care of your family. I'm allowed some frivolity am I not? My answer is yes. Today's the day.

brownie bites
Happiness is...
Brownie Bites.
They're almost guilt free! Just another miniature snack, gotta catch 'em all! Brownie bites are special because they give you the appropriate amount of succulent dessert without and regrets. Tonight, I had two---still not feeling bad about it either!

Skinny Cow
Happiness is...
Skinny Cows. Yummmmmm!
No, I don't encourage starving your livestock. I'm referring instead to the low cal ice cream bars, guilt free desserts... They're a great invention, and they make my life and little indulgences so much better :) They come in classic vanilla, mint, cookies and cream, and many others. They melt in your hand and you're left licking off each fingertip. Don't worry though, I'm usually smiling when I do so!
I recommend them if you get a chance to wander through your local freezer section, summer will be easier. Just trust me.

Salty and Sweet!
Happiness is...
Salty desserts. The best of both worlds.
For example, a coworker brought in sea-salt brownies yesterday afternoon. If I didn't mind looking like a whale, I would eat the whole pan. There is something very special about having more than one taste sensation. Salty and Sweet is one of the best combinations, in fact. That is why everybody likes chocolate covered potato chips so much.
Excuse me? You've never had chocolate covered potato chips? Shame on you. Please tell me you'll at least take a bite of this sea-salt brownie.

Easter
Happiness is...
A relaxing holiday with the whole family.
The day started with a cup of coffee and a quiet morning on the porch. Church was warm and welcoming, as usual. Our Easter dinner included pineapple glazed ham, salad, potatoes, green beans, rolls, jello salad, AND orange poppyseed cake.
And yes, I got to eat the cake. TGIEASTER! Lent is over and chocolate is back <3
Oh yeah, and we got to sit around and catch up and play games. Watch a movie and cuddle up. Spend some time just plain sitting around. What an afternoon.
Happy Easter... He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

Rain
Happiness is...
The smell of fresh rain. It's the crisp, wet, sweet scent as a glorious prelude to a quiet afternoon.
There are a lot of things that perk up my nose. The smell of a new rain is one of them. The smell of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies is another. The smell of a cheap paper towel is also up there. Call me crazy, but I'm going to continue letting these kinds of things make me smile. :)

Sunday Goody Sunday,
Happiness is...
The right blend of chocolate, sugar, milk, and coffee... a fresh homemade mocha, try and beat that.
My favorite thing about Sunday mornings is that I get to wake up to eggs and bacon before church. My dad cooks, consistently, for a good start to the week. It never fails, and it's comfort food in its finest.
My second favorite thing is my own perfect concoction. I have come to truly appreciate coffee + cocoa + milk + sugar. With the strength of a hearty breakfast and the perfect cup of coffee, I go through my morning and rejuvenate myself to take on a brand new week. Thank God for Sunday mornings; and the best part is, Sunday was made to thank God. Take that, Monday.

love.
Happiness is...
Valentine's Day. And every little blissful moment that surrounds it.
This year is my first year being in a serious relationship with someone in February. For once, I get chocolates from someone besides my mother, and I get to celebrate with someone I can hold tight... as splendid as my evenings with girlfriends are, I am really going to enjoy myself.
Happiness is going to a late night showing of a 3D children's movie, narrated by the cutest one ever: "that's a boobie bra!". Happiness is cooking dinner for two. Happiness is getting snazzed up and sitting down to a nice Zydeco show downtown. Happiness is being walked to the door, as you always imagined a perfect date ended. Happiness is knowing that, for now, tomorrow doesn't matter so much. I can indulge in the atmosphere around Valentine's Day, and just enjoy being spoiled.
Happy V Day to everyone in my life. After all, if you're in my life you deserve every ounce of love I can send out. You are special. Don't worry, be happy.

Cookies
Happiness is...
Girl Scout Cookies... and buying them from my students. Samoas. I want them now.
Yes, it's for a good cause and I am helping a little girl reach her goal, but man are they ever worth it in ways beyond this. :)

Chocolate anyone?
Happiness is...
Eating a little piece of chocolate mid-morning. Yum.
But better yet, happiness is taking a few minutes to flatten the tinfoil wrapper. I don't mean just opening it up and laying it on my cluttered desk. I like working on it so diligently that the tinfoil shines like a mirror; no wrinkles, no folds, just perfection. It's like I wasn't even there in the first place. Things are brought back to the beginning, before the fresh sweet tinfoil was crumpled around anything. I'll tell you one thing for sure, I nearly forget about the chocolate I just ingested. I just hold the precious wrapper in my fingers and hear it crinkle with every move. I look at it, beautiful and untouched, and a smile creeps across my face.
And suddenly, I'm craving another little piece of chocolate.
