Luxury showers.

Happiness is...

Luxury showers. Multi-head. 8 speed. Spacious and warm. Not only am I cozy and clean, but I have just taken a mini vacation  in the process.

The shower is only one of many pieces of paradise. Here, all things are at your fingertips. Including things as simple as gentle massages. Take that, Minnesota.

If only we could stay.

Housekeeping

Happiness is...

Housekeeping. I have never been one to make my bed.

Nor do I enjoy cleaning bathrooms.

This is why staying in hotels is such a treat. These things are done for me, and much more. I come home to fresh toiletries, a clean floor, and a crisp fold in the toilet paper. What did I say? It's the little things. Thank you to all the housekeepers out there!

Productivity

Happiness is...

Early mornings to get things done before work. I thought I'd hate working at 10am, but instead I get to continue waking up at 7 or 7:30 and just having an extra couple hours to get my stuff together before the day begins. It's a little liberating.

Today I finally organized the last of my stuff in my new place, so it feels like home at last. That's an amazing feeling!

Rug beating

Happiness is...

Beating rugs. Hit them hard and get them clean. It's a pretty neat metaphor when you think about it. It takes a swift kick in the ass before we shake the dirt off.

I'm just saying.

At the Car Wash....

Happiness is...

Washing the car. It makes me feel like I'm taking care of things, getting stuff done, being a man. Wait, what? Exactly. I enjoy putting on my bikini, scrubbing my car, and heaving the vacuum hose around the carpet. Best part? After I've worked my tail off and gotten wet and dirty, I can look at the car and see it as nearly brand new again! Smooth, shiny, and clean... I am ready for another season with my dear Antonio. Yes, that's his name. He's silver and a little rough around the edges, and delightfully Spanish. How did you spend your sunny day after all?

Hotel Service

Happiness is...

Hotel service. A fresh towel and turned down sheets? Yes please! You can even order food to be delivered, or ask for a razor if you forgot yours. Is it okay if I stay here forever, instead of going back home where I have to make my own bed and clean up after myself? Hmmm.... if only. Ta-ta for now.

Spring Cleaning.

Happiness is...

Spring cleaning time.

Am I actually a person who enjoys cleaning? I think I'd rather chew on my tax forms. However, when I am sitting in the center of a tidy room, staring at several bags of clutter I plan to donate... that is a glorious moment.

I grew up as a pack rat. I may not use that telescope now, but you never know when the apocalypse will hit and that will be our saving grace. I haven't worn that shirt in 3 years but what if I want to wear it next month some time? These are negative thought patterns that I had to overcome. Strive to toss. And now, I take spring cleaning seriously. It's the time to ask myself how important my personal sanity is versus how important that old purse is. Guess which one I pick?

Sometimes it's the old purse. But more often than not, I am happy with the result of de-cluttering. Happy Cleaning, folks!
